Dr. Scott J. Sands was born in Inglewood, California but has been providing East Texas with exceptional eye care since 1981. 

Dr. Sands first obtained an A.A. degree from Alvin Junior College and later went on to graduate from the University of Texas at Austin where he majored in Pre-Med. Later, he attended the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he received his Doctor of Medicine Degree. 

He is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Cherokee County Medical Association, Texas Ophthalmological Association, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. 

In addition to his service as an Operational Flight Surgeon with the US Marine Corp, Dr. Sands has served the East Texas community since 1981 beginning at Ophthalmology Associates of East Texas where he was president/owner. He has also served as a physician at the DeHaven Eye Clinic and was president/owner of The Eye Center before joining the team as a physician at Gold Eye Clinic.

Dr. Sands is a comprehensive ophthalmologist; he provides medical and surgical care for all ages including cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery and basic eyelid procedures. He also provides no cost medical examinations through the Eye Care America program sponsored by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a volunteer program to aid in the prevention or early detection of eye disease to underserved individuals in the community.

When he isn’t practicing eye care, Dr. Sands enjoys gardening and spending time with his wife and their three children and 12 grandchildren.
